Tom Holland is a British star who gained global popularity through his role as the superhero Spiderman. He appeared as Peter Parker in the blockbusters Avengers: Infinity War, Spiderman: Homecoming, and Captain America: Civil War. Before portraying the superhero, he starred in the famous Billy Elliot the Musical (2008) and The Impossible (2012).
Born Thomas Stanley Holland in London, England on June 1, 1996, he showed his interest in dancing since his school days. He even joined the Nifty Feet Dance Studio to develop hip-hop dance skills. In 2006, he was noticed by the choreographer Lynne Page and sent him to the Billy Elliot the Musical audition. Thomas started performing as Michael, Billy’s best friend and ended up as the starring role, successfully gaining the audience’s attention with his outstanding performance. It led him into television show interviews.
He made a movie debut by voicing Sho, a character from Japanese animated movie Arrietty (2010). After graduating from Wimbledon College in 2012, he continued his study at BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology where he learned dancing and acting. Tom made a breakthrough with the critically acclaimed drama The Impossible (2012) in which he played alongside Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. The movie was a commercial success and screened at the prestigious 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. Tom took a role as Lucas Bennett and received global praise, which made him come to fame. Tom worked steadily, accepting roles in the drama show How I Live Now (2013) and in the BBC’s Wolf Hall (2015). He reached worldwide mainstream fame when starring as Peter Parker in the next movie of Spiderman, replacing the former actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. His first performance was in Captain America: Civil War in 2016. Besides playing as the famous Peter Parker, Tom Holland also featured in other movies, such as The Lost City of Z and Pilgrimage (2017).
In addition to acting on the big screen, he also lent his voice to an array of video games, including Lego Marvel Avengers and the sequels, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2. Along with top actor Will Smith, he was casted for the animated Spies in Disguise in 2019. He also worked for another animated movies, lending his voice for Dolittle (2020) and Pixar’s Onward.
